Recipe Sunday: Sassy Water

According to the Mayo Clinic, there is no single water consumption formula that fits everyone. For an average healthy female a total of 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) is recommended per day. Now factor in exercise, environment, illness/health conditions, and pregnancy and the need changes depending on each factor.

Our water intake is essential for living. Some of us can drink water all day, every day (me!) and others need a little something extra to add some flavor. Either way, we should all learn how much fluid intake our bodies need to function.

Sassy Water

If you want some added flavor to your water without the extra calories try Sassy Water. It originated from the Flat Belly diet, which I have not done. My MiL (mother-in-law) discovered it during one of her surfing sessions and as always let me in on it. 🙂

Sassy Water Recipe

2 liters water (about 8 ½ cups)
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced (I don’t use the cucumber)
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
12 small spearmint leaves

Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and let flavors blend overnight. Drink the entire pitcher by the end of each day.

Thanks again to Nadia for hitting us up on Facebook with a  question.  We hope this adds a way to help increase everyone’s water consumption. As always, if you want to know what’s best for your body consult your physician.
