I’m a working mom living in the Chicago Suburbs with Bubba my 3 year-old comedian, Mr. Smiles the baby and a self-proclaimed neat-freak hubby. I started my weight loss journey in August of 2013. From August to December my main focus was my eating. In that time I lost 12lbs and realized that I had to commit to both eating healthy and an exercise regimen in order to reach my fitness goals. In January, I purchased Shaun T’s Focus T25 and set my first fit goal to lose 29 pounds by my 29th birthday. After completing Focus T25 I purchased Dasha Libin’s Scorcher Series and haven’t looked back. In between T25 and Scorcher I ran the Shamrock Shuffle 8K which reignited my love of running.

I joined the Fit4Mom 5K training team for Run Like a Mother 5K and the captain asked us what are running goals were and I said, “I want to run a half marathon”. Long story short, she motivated me to get out of my head and just do it. She reminded me that if I could run an 8K I could run a half with proper training and time. So, I downloaded the Nike Running App (nkoyowr) and registered for the Chicago 10K in August. Once I complete the 10K, I’ll be running the Hot Chocolate 15K in November and plan on running my first half in the Summer of 2015.

Small S.M.A.R.T. goals will get you to your ultimate goal. Just break it into bite sized pieces and you can do it.
